Harvest Newsletter 2021

Hey Wine Fan!



Harvest is finally here! We’ve been super busy, and we are only going to get busier, so we thought sending out a little newsletter to say, “Hello!” and update you on a few things would be a good idea. To the newest news: we are SAFE so far from the Caldor Fire ravaging El Dorado County. Our hearts go out to everyone affected. However, we are not out of the woods in Amador County. Winds can change, but so far they are blowing North East to towards Tahoe. Fingers crossed, but we truly hope our firefighters can get a handle on this devastating event ASAP. Stay tuned to our social media if the situation changes.

GRAPES & UPCOMING WINE RELEASES

Harvest is here! We are excited to crush the 2021 vintage, and hope we get a little time in between to rest. Here are the grapes we are scheduled to make into awesome wine this year:

Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cabernet Franc, Barbera, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, and our NEWEST grape Petite Verdot!

Sounds like a lot, huh? Holgate Hill strives to make a fun variety of different wines for you all to enjoy. With all that said, here are a few NEW wines scheduled to be released in the coming months (in no particular order):

Barbera, Grenache, Syrah, Climax Red, Cabernet Franc, GSM and Sangiovese!

As a little reminder: we are a boutique winery and we SELL-OUT of all of our wines, so be sure to get your favorites before they’re gone!

& OCTOBER WINE CLUB RELEASE

The Big Crush harvest festival is set for the first weekend in October (10/1 – 10/3). We will also correspond the Big Crush with our October Wine Club Release (because, why not?)! So, be sure to make your way down to Holgate Hill and have a fun time with us! We are serving up Harvest Carnitas Street Tacos (Saturday & Sunday) paired with new wine releases and jamming out to Rock and Roll music! Vegetarian tacos also are available upon request.

Now Licensed for Outdoor Wine Tasting!

WE ARE OPEN AGAIN – OUTSIDE!

We were just approved by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to taste and drink wine outside of our tasting room. That means we are back, baby! Normal hours, rotating wine list, bistro menu, super-fun times, but with Covid-19 limitations. Let’s walk through how it’s going to work:

Space is extremely limited. We have 6 tables wrapped around the outside of our tasting room 6 feet apart, 2 people per table maximum. RESERVATIONS are recommended, but not required. So, for walk-ins, if we have room we’ll fit you in. Our bistro menu is also be available to pair with your favorite Holgate Hill wines, but food is not required (reservations help us figure out how much food to prep for the weekend). Face masks are required by state law until you are seated at your tasting table. While seated, having a good time is mandatory, otherwise Rob will tell you a horrible dad joke.

Speaking of dad jokes, our brand-new baby girl, Reagan, is due the week of August 24th! Cassidy is not only great at baking walnut tarts, and everything else, but also amazing at baking our cute little “bun in the oven.” We apologize in advanced if there are disruptions in our business hours in a few weeks.

TASTINGS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED

Due to the Governor’s latest mandate, we are halting wine-tastings. However, we are OPEN for pick-ups and purchases! Saturdays & Sundays, Noon ’til 3pm.

Order online, and pick-up in store. Walk-in purchasing is also welcome. Wine Club gets 30% off all wine purchases, and regular customers get 15% off using the code “stockup15” at checkout.

OPEN for Dine & Wine

I’m so glad we have a food license! Starting this Saturday, May 23rd, we will be offering Dine & Wine service! Since we have our food license, we squeeze into the early parts of Stage 2 reopening alongside restaurants. So, if you would like to enjoy wine in our tasting room (bottle, glass, or flight), you can, but it must be accompanied with food in sit-down dining service fashion. We have prepped our space to ensure physical distancing in accordance with the State, County and CDC guidelines, but that also means Dine & Wine space is ultra limited! If Dine & Wine interests you, we highly recommend you make an online reservation through our website RIGHT NOW!

How it works:
You must purchase food and dine-in to enjoy wine at our tasting room. We have developed a short, but delicious, menu to choose from (see choices here). Your Dine & Wine automatically includes one charcuterie board (feeds 2 to 4 people) and we are offering a WINE FLIGHT of 5 wines per adult, some of which are brand new to the public, one Flight per adult up to 5 adults per Dine & Wine! Our Wine Flight is similar to a wine-tasting, but different because we will come to you with the pours! 4 tables are available for 1 hour Dine & Wine reservations every hour on the hour, but if space is available, walk-ins are welcome. Complimentary squirt of hand sanitizer to all guests!

Onsite purchases and curbside pickups are still available! However, we can only serve wine to dine-in patrons at the moment.

Spring has Sprung at Holgate Hill

Happy Spring!

The weather is warming up, the wildflowers are blooming, and the wines are tasting even that much better.  We would like to thank everyone who has come out to our tasting room in Amador City.  If you have yet to stop by, no worries! We’ll try not to drink all the wine until you get here.

Daffodil Hill, a beautiful destination, is officially open!  Stop by our Amador City tasting room and pick up some wine to enjoy with a picnic at Dafodil Hill’s lovely grounds.  Click the picture below to learn more.

Holgate Hill has some really fun and exciting things in the works.
